Certification Requirements

Here at Yayadoulahood, where we recognize the importance of support and guidance for families during the postpartum period. Our certification process offers a pathway for Yaya doula's to become certified postpartum doulas, ensuring they are equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to provide exceptional care. While many of our doulas have completed certification, we value the diverse experiences of those who choose not to certify. Regardless of their certification status, all our doulas are dedicated to offering compassionate support, covering essential topics from newborn care to emotional well-being for the whole family.

  • Must have attended at least a 24 hour postpartum doula training

  • Must have Washington State background check

  • Must have infant CPR

  • Must have worked with at least 10 families during their fourth trimester  (0-3 months) with positive feedback

  • Must do continuing education that may include, but not limited to below topics 

    • Infant Care, Infant Sleep, Infant Feeding, Perinatal Mood Disorders, Family, Partner, and Sibling Support, Racism, LGBTQIA, 

    • Postpartum Recovery, Emotional Support, Postpartum Nutrition, Cultural Diversity, Privilege and Bias, Preemie Babies,

    • Breastfeeding, Bottle feeding, Bereavement, NICU Infants

Upon completion of fulfilling all the requirements of Yayadoulahood certification process the doula is certified as a  Certified Yayadoulahood Postpartum Doula.

YaYaDoulahood is who you need after your baby is born.
